A cordless drill for Dirty Harry

I recall my dad repairing a 4-poster bed using a brace and bit. I was about 4 years old, but I was impressed. Very manly in my 4-year old eyes. An electric drill would not have impressed me the same way.

The only Tig stuff I’ve seen used (not that that signifies anything) required a foot peddle to start the current flow.
The torch in the video has a small lever on the side to “go”. What would you call that rig/torch?
The are basically three was to strike a TIG arc.

In the video he is using a finger trigger accessory.

There is “lift to arc”, you contact the work piece, lift the torch and it ignites (one of the types I have).

Then there is the foot pedal control, it not only allows you the start the arc it also allows you to regulate the amperage up to the maximum you have the machine set at. Also have this set up, it is the set up I use most.

Notice he is using no filler rod in the video, he’s allowing just the molten metal to fuse the parts together.
