23 months ago, I discovered the FOG while perusing various woodworking sites. I had never heard of Festool. I was amazed at the level of owner satisfaction and loyalty I saw on the forum, and being an Apple aficionado with similar feelings and expression, I decided to see what the fuss was all about. I purchased a CXS drill. That became the entry drug into a very serious and extensive Green Addiction! [scared]
I have had a long term goal of getting rid of all the cheap machines and power tools I have owned and replacing them with what I call "Lifelong Tools" that will last me throughout my eventual retirement without having the desire to constantly upgrade. I have done that with Companies like Hammer, Laguna Italian, Powermatic, SawStop, and other top line equipment. When it has come to smaller power tools, Festool has become my absolute brand of choice, and I haven't been conservative in my purchases of them...desiring to fill my shop for the future NOW, before prices continue to increase, and before I no longer have the income I have now.
I don't know if I'll use every tool I've purchased, but in my mind's eye, I have seen the things I'd "like" to build, repair, and make using virtually every tool in the shop....and for contingencies in the event the SHTF! [wink]
Having laid out the preface above, I am happy to confess that as of this week, I have completed purchasing EVERY Festool tool that I can even imagine using in my lifetime. The only Festool items I will continue to buy are accessories and consumables that are all that's left to purchase regularly...or at least until Festool introduces new products that I certainly will add if I see possibilities! I have been fortunate to have had access to not only U.S. available products, but also Festool equipment only sold in Europe, without having to pay VAT due to my wife's military assignment in Germany that ended last June.
I'm currently compiling an inventory of all the Festool equipment I now own, and will post shortly just for grins and giggles. But BOY!... have I been hooked! I am sitting in Lagos, Nigeria airport awaiting my flight back to the USA. I have the final deliveries scheduled over the next week, and will be unloading systainers on top of systainers. Woohoo! Thanks Bob, Highland, and to a lesser degree Amazon!
This week's final entries to the shop: OF2200, OF1010, MFK700 Set, LR 32, CT Wings, HL850, TS75 w/MFT3 pkg, a ton of abrasives, and additional abrasive sorting systainers for each of the sizes.
What a ride this has been [big grin]
Cheers,
Frank
