That block pattern (Img 719) is WAY COOL! I feel like I need to climb it or fall into it - not sure which?

So what is the first project you are going to do when you get back home?

Thanks Wayne! The rhombs pattern was my personal project.  I will definitely be playing with that again in the near future.  The medallion and leaf work will be getting some of my attention as well. Now I just need a customer that wants this kind of stuff.

The rhombs pattern was the only one I liked! And I liked it a lot.

I looked at the first ones that "Were made with scrap wood bits" and thought_"Scrap wood bits make great firewood". You definitely stand out among the group.

Nice technique to adding interest to the floor.  I also prefer the rhombs pattern of those shown.

Dovetail - another member here - has done a lot of these types of flooring medallions - search the forum for examples.

When you do this kind of work for someone how do you ensure that gaps don't open up everywhere? With it being different species and different angles id think the floor would move all over the place.

Any wood floor will always have some seasonal expansion and contraction. We glue the pieces together and down to the subfloor/underlayment to minimize movement and a lot of the stuff pictured is tongue and groove as well.
