I am looking to get an inlay for the 5" sanding discs which i will use in one of my FOGtainers (YEAH!)
Am i right in thinking i need one of partnumber: 455521?
I am not enough of an expert yet to fully make out if that is the correct one and would be very happy for some help  [embarassed]

Henning,

I have the 5" rotex, and I think the 6" systainer insert is much better. Everything fots just as snugly and I am also able to fit a ton more discs in there, and a hand sanding block or two.

Richard.

Just use a sys3 and put them in, in full boxes.

Way better then the insert for the sandpaper.  I think I have 6 boxes of sandpaper in a sys3 for my 5" abrasives.

Can't get any more simple than that, cheap too.

I did this.

Wow! Thanks for the help guys!

I'd love to have your solution, Brice! Looks very nice. But unless someone wants to trade a FOGtainerII for a FOGtainerIII (Assuming it's indeed a III you have used), i'm pretty much stuck with the insert idea.

I'm pretty positive that's a Sys2.
Sys2s are a bit over 6" tall, accomodating the 5" diameter sanding discs (I've checked, as I plan to make one of these as well).

GREAT news! I will be rolling my own systainer inlay then! Now, where did i see that 3/8" Plywood...

I am happy with the original inserts they work for me.  :)

My only issues were lack of space, I want all my paper with me.  They always stuck together and I got like 4 at a time when I pulled one out.

I like to be able to just grab the boxes I want and get back to work.

I agree with Darcy.  I want all my paper with me, but I don't want to deal with the cardboard boxes.

I recently purchased an abrasives systainer for my 6 inch paper and a Maxisystainer for holding other stuff.  I found that I have too much sandpaper to fit in the abrasive systainer that I got, so I figured, I've got the Maxi, I'll use that and just have to buy another.

So after much brainstorming to figure out the design and paper direction (rows) for the insert, I came up with this that'll yield me the maximum disc storage in the Maxi.  I originally planned to make dadoes every so many inches for the separators, but decided against it because the case width wouldn't give enough room for a thick enough insert and I can also pack in as many discs as I want.  I'll be using a gloss varnish to protect the whole insert from the effects of humidity and I'll have to label the dividers.

I used 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch poplar, 3/16 inch hardboard aka Masonite, Gorilla Glue clear and 23 gauge pin nails.  More uses for poplar including the photo backdrop!

Now there's plenty of room for more sandpaper.  I'll be making up another for my 5 inch discs.
