I had one of those times when using a story stick was much better than measuring. It was to get the width of the bottoms and tops for some heavy duty cabinets I'm making for my shop. As I got my measurement something dawned on me that seemed so obvious that if it has been shown before, I apologize in advance.

After squaring up the carcass as best as I could, I took my measurement on my Woodpecker story stick using the black stop which usually used at the end.

Then I added a tab at each end to keep it parallel. After that I simply slide it under the rail butting the stop against the rail and setting my stop block at the other end.

Then I made my cut and here are the results. I expect some variation on the other cabinets as this ply isn't too consistent from sheet to sheet but I thought it was worth sharing.
