Yes stranded Bamboo ply, but another brand, (Teregren I think?). Leftovers from when that stuff only cost a small fortune per sheet instead of a large one.
Feet and little post holding front of the log are sign mounting standoffs. They are designed to sandwich a piece of glass or plexiglass, usually on a wall or counter. For the feet I just used the threaded part of the standoffs and tapped matching threads into the wood base. Have cut machine threads into hardwood here and there, works fine with obvious limitations.
Dark wood is Sapele Dominoed to a couple leftover scraps of the Bamboo. Glued up as rectangle to facilitate clamping then chopped down to the odd angle polygon shape that mimics the shape of the rock.
Kinda funny, that piece of Sapele was part of a dumpster find at my business. People would poach the bin all the time and dump all sorts of stuff. I pulled in one morning and found a couple 6' x 10" pieces painted with grey latex laying in front of the bin along with other debris from some college kid's apartment. I thought they were junk show pine or ply shelving and was kinda grumpy, (SOB's are too lazy to even put stuff in the bin...). When I went to pick them up they were easy 30-40 lbs each and my little brain was "Oh, this is some sort of hardwood that a fool painted with krunky latex, my lucky day". Anyhow, both pieces have beautiful straight ribbon grain and I've slowly used for accent in various projects.
