A question for LR 32 users

The system is designed for 32mm frame-less cabinets.  I'm interested in the system but I build primarily face frame cabinets.  So, how useful is the system for face frames?  Does it take away from the system if your cabinets are not based on multiples of 32mm?  And lastly, if you're using the 1400 rail on cases taller than 1400 do you need the longer rail or can you use the both the top and bottom of the case to reference the holes?  Thanks.

For our non-metric loving customers I always recommend marking and always referencing off the top of your cabinets.  Even if your cabinet is not a perfect multiple of 32mm this system will still work great.

For face frame cabinets it still works great for shelf pins.

For tall cabinets you can either get a longer rail, or as you said use two reference points (assuming your top and bottom are cut parallel to each other).

Not sure what hardware you typically use, but Blum have created their own "Process32" system that combines a few elements of the 32mm system with standard American dimensions. Their hardware can certainly be used with face frames, too.

Here's some info on the system:

Blum Process32 System

The only caveat with this system is that it requires holes to be drilled 46.5mm from the bottom for drawers, and 62.5mm from the bottom for hinge cups. The Festool LR32 end stops only allow 9.5mm, 16mm, and 32mm from the bottom. I created a 3D printed end stop that solves this problem.

Check out this thread for more info:

I'm a recent convert to the metric system and I love it.
Not married to any one kind of hardware, usually let the customer decide or use what feels right for the piece.
There is no shortage of euro style hardware so that's no concern.
I'm sold and I'll probably place the order shortly.  Really wish the long holey rail was 110" so it could double as a break down rail for sheet goods.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

It certainly makes the math easier when you're 50+... [emoji6]

The Aussies went decimal for Valentines day 50 years ago.  [tongue]
