a quick clamp jig

Today I needed a jig.

I thought a quick clamp would suit it perfectly.

Any guesses to what it is for?

for starters, the bit retracts further into the block. I also made it a point to have the chuck bottom out long before the bit could come out the top of the rail.

While sitting on the stairs, slide it on towards you so that the clamp is over the top of the rail. blue tape to outside face of rail.

Align it to your layout marks. clamp it. drill it.  pop the clamp. slide it up to the next mark, repeat.

It was the first time I had ever used a jig to drill for balusters. I will always make the jig now!

Had to remove a baluster to do some sanding I missed, so I figured I would pull another so I could take a pic of the jig 'in use'.
