My wife asked me to build a shoe cabinet for the mudroom. Not wanting to get too involved with the build, I made it very simply and quickly. It is made from reasonable quality plywood that was edge banded. The cabinet's two ends are rabbeted for the top and bottom panels. The bottom riser is made from 3/4" thick poplar and is pocket screwed to the upper carcass. The cabinet is sprayed with a decent quality latex paint.
The removable back panel is dadoed in the sides and top and slides out like a drawer bottom. I made the back removable to facilitate painting the carcass since my paint sprayer gun is big and bulky. Here's the back inserted into the structure before the cabinet was painted.
