A William Morris inspired Craftsmen bed........

Before and after pics of the results after 36 hours of fuming @ 29% Ammonia concentrate (refreshed after 24 hrs).

Hard to tell from the pictures, but noticeably darker. After testing some samples, I'll be staining with "Michael's Cherry" to add some more depth and color to it.

Result of first staining session.....

Turns out that Amish OCS (Ohio Certified Stain) doesn't play well with black nitrile gloves.... suddenly started seeing little bits of black fingertips falling on the floor.

Full stain results on the Queen frame. Just needs a top coat.

I ended up using a kitchen sponge (not my wife's!) as an applicator, then a clean rag for second pass to remove drips and even it out. Also starting upside down was the easiest as the stain then runs into the nooks and crannies easier. I also used a small foam brush and a q-tip to work it into any tough spots.

Ok! Some pictures of the queen bed (mostly) installed in the guest room.

yes, I need to make some matching side tables next. :) (those are some of my earlier tables in there now).

This is of course one of the rooms with a strawbale external wall, hence the deep window well. We FINALLY (after 16 years) got around to pouring the concrete sills in those walls last October, and in January we had them re-plastered with American Clay.

I think the bed really ties the room together, man!

The bed is SOLID as hell. The rails use two 14mm dry dominos on each joint, with a 14mm domino connector in the middle.

PS. YES, I forgot to change the color on the outlet plate after we replastered. Another todo item....

Awesome the room looks great ! Rug is perfect….a craftsman guy here lots of Stickly ….people say it’s too dark and heavy…I ignore em
yeah, historically I've used medium walnut, but my wife decided she wanted that darker look.

The rug came from Lowes, believe it or not. Unfortunately, looks like they've discontinued it. Need to look around and see if I can find that brand somewhere else. There is no middle ground on craftsman rugs, cheap or SUPER expensive seems to be the only option.
