hello all...
I have a bamboo plywood countertop and a coffee table that I've varnished with 4 coats of gloss with the plan of "rubbing out the finish" to a semi-gloss to satin like finish. I have tried multiple techniques but have been unhappy with the results. Mostly this has to do with the cloudiness that I now see in the finish and the scratch patterns among other things. I'm sure part of it is my technique (or lack of...), but like I said, no matter what technique I try, I pretty much get the same results.
Anyway, now I'm on to trying Abralon pads -- probably using grits 400, 500, 1000 and 2000. In doing some research it seems like the Platin pads are pretty much the same thing. Is this true and/or does anyone think one is better than the other?
Of course the downside is having to buy the large box of each of these grits. I've actually found a bowling related site that sells the Abralon pads in packages of 3 for around $15/box so this seems a more economical route.
Thanks!
Carl
