I just purchased an RO90 and it came with 1 Granat 80 paper round, and 1 delta 80, to which I am not impressed with the amount they give you considering the cost of the tool ( just a small rant).
Anyways I was blown away by how well the RO90 performed and wish I had discovered Festool earlier in my part time hobby life.
I just purchased the RO90 abrasive kit and has all Rubin 2 abrasives, and would like to know if the Rubin 2 performs as well as Granat.
Not sure if I should return the kit and just purchase Granat separately.
Please help with my decision.
Thanks

Hi,

Rubin 2 is designed for very good performance on bare wood. Granat is an all around good performer. Personally I prefer Rubin for bare wood over Granat. I find Granat to excel on finishes, paint and  glue removal. But Granat will work pretty well on wood also.

You may find this new Festool site feature handy http://www.festoolusa.com/abrasives

Like Seth said, i find Rubin to be superior to Grant when sanding raw wood, and I think its just fine for sanding off non-gumming finish as well.  I like Brilliant or Granat for between coat abrasion

Thanks Seth
I think the colour of the paper being oxide red brings back memories of some crappy paper I purchased
from one of the box stores with my Dewalt and was not impressed.
Since most of my work is with bare wood I think the Rubin 2 will suffice.
Much appreciated !!
