Matt -- how about a section of your site dedicated to trading Festool abrasives?  I went to Woodcraft today to get some P120 & P220 "Brilliant" paper for my DS400EQ.  They had it, but only in quanities of 100 (I was hoping to find 50).  Same for the P120 I bought for my 6" Rotex.  I'd be happy to swap 50 of each for some other abrasives that I actually need.  Anybody else have the same issue?

Toolpig - You can buy abrasives in broken packs from some of the dealers, like Bob Marino, for example.

Toolpig,
You can post a "swap offer" in the "Classified Ads" area of the group.  The Classifieds don't have to be limited to monetary exchanges.

Does that work for you?

I know -- but sometimes you gotta have something right away and you buy whatever's available.  Ya know?

Hello,

I had the same difficulty yesterday at woodcraft all the abrasives were in 50 or 100 packs of the same grit. How about a few assortment packs i.e. 15 of different grits and 5 of something a little different, I mean really not too many customers need 50 100 grit and 50 120 grit. I think the idea is long overdue. Little sketchy in my opinion. thanks dan

I fully agree!  Funny, my ROTEX sander came with an assortment -- kind of like a "starter pack."  But my new ES400EQ came with a single sheet (a "brilliant P180")!

I did notice on McFeely's website, however, that some are available in 5 or 10 packs, I believe.

Bob Marino will work with you on mix n' match packs of abrasives -- it was extremely helpful to me recently when I wanted to sample Platin in various grits.

If you need something right away, what good would a trading section on this site be to you???

David, I think the notion is that you can go in and buy a hundred sheets of what-have-you that you need right now, and then divvy it up later in exchange for the materials you're more likely to use.

Although I've found that worrying about sandpaper just makes life harder in the long-term, so I'm happy to buy boxes of a hundred and put 'em on the shelf.

I think you missed what I was saying.... I needed something in a hurry so I bought a pack of 100 because it's what they had--that's 50 more than I needed.

OIC - yes I misunderstood.  Thanks.

TP, this forum already has a classified section--it's near the bottom of the list on the home page.  (There's also a "Rules and Policies" section for threads like this).  Funny coincidence that you started this thread today--honestly, I didn't see it before I posted my classified ad for abrasives to trade.

Regards,

John
