I’m about ready to spring for a CT Midi T-Loc. I’m not excited about shelling out $96 on the Festool Compact Cleaning Set. 1. Is there an alternative cross over set that might fit such as can be found in a similar diameter range at Lowes, etc.? If the answer is no, does Cleaning Accessory Set [492392] for $26 enough for spot cleanup i.e.: floor, workbench, inside of table saw, etc.? Thanks

Search for "Bosch VAC011 Vacuum Cleaner Wand Kit" and I think you'll find, aside from the wand being in two parts rather than three (the latter 3-piece wand is designed to facilitate storage in a SYS-1) and, of course, the absence (in the case of the Bosch kit) of an accompanying systainer, that the kits are identical. This alludes to the other method of thinking about the cost of the Festool kit (or, for that matter, most any other Festool piece of equipment). You're also paying for (and getting the benefit of) a Sys-1 that retails on its own for US$72 while also benefiting from a wand that breaks down small enough to fit in a Sys-1. Just a thought.

Any accessory in the 35/36 mm range fits on the hose. In Europe that's a common standard and accessories are widely available. But I don't know exactly what sizes you use in the States, so you might have to look around a bit before you find something suitable.

The small set you refer to is indeed great for small clean up like the table saw and workbench, but I wouldn't use it for the floor though, you're better off with a full wand there.

I've bought two Festool kits, one on Ebay and one from Amazon Warehouse deals, both for well under the list price.  I think there is one one warehouse deals now.  Fein accessories also fit.

I use the Festool plastic compact cleaning set almost daily and am happy with it. Has lasted for at least 8 years now.
Another option to consider would be the traditional shop vacuum from your local big box store. I have one from HD for heavy duty nasty cleanup that is about 100 dollars. Noisy and clunky to use but works great for its purpose. They have models for considerably less money.

The Festool compact cleaning set is of very poor quality - I'm surprised Festool have their name on it. It is awful.

Get the Tradesman's cleaning set in a SYS-5 with a 36mm hose and stainless steel vacuum tubes. Great bit of kit.
