Can anyone suggest a stain to use on raw bamboo edge banding to achieve the colour of caramelized bamboo?
Or  if it is possible to heat treat with a heat gun or torch without destroying the glue backed edge banding.
Any help much appreciated.

If you can post a picture of the look you are trying to achieve, I'd be happy to take a stab at it.

What have tried so far?
The bamboo fly rod guys use ammonia and or heat which will probably react with the glue on your edge banding.
I would start by toning the edge banding I would make a toner with a mixture of dye (best guess color) and DNA and/or premixed half pound shellac. I would then add more dye pigmented color and test on the strips until I got what I wanted.

Posting a picture will take some doing for me.
You can see a picture of the board we are using in the www.teragren.com website  in the "panel and veneer" section. We are using vertical caramelized.
I have tried walnut statins but they are too dark  golden oaks too light.
Tried heating the tape with a small torch but poor results.
The main colour shade would resemble the middle of dark chocolate and milk chocolate.

The caramelization is achieved at factory with a heat process as far as I can surmise.

Was hoping someone had experience with caramelized bamboo and save me some time.
