I recently made my first Festool purchase; the CT-22/TS-55 package. Over time, as funds allow, I will surely be upgrading to other Festool products. In the meantime, does Festool have different size adapters to attach the CT-22 hose to other brand tools?

If not, will using the narrower Bosch hose have any adverse effect on the CT-22?

I'm assuming with this it'll go into the 1" ports?  So far both my festool hoses slip over my 1" ported tools but, it'd be nice to have the option

Yep.  I have a hand drywall sander, a small Porter Cable palm sander, and a RotoZip with dust attachment.  The adapter fits nicely.  (You haven't lived until you've tried RotoZipping drywall.  Without dust collection, you'll look like a ghost in about 30 seconds and then spend WEEKS getting the dust out of every tiny crack.  WITH dust attachment and CT22, there's almost no dust.)

I have that same Fein adapter, but I haven't needed it yet. Somewhere, I got a piece of thin walled rubber tubing (I don't remember where I got it from) that I use for odd connection. The tubing fits over the outside of the Festool hose and I use a hose clamp on it to hold it on. The other end is usually flexible enough that it will adjust to most of the ports on my tools.

Its nothing fancy, just a piece of thin rubber tubing, works great though.

There's always duct tape too  ;D

Bill,
I use small "Fernco" plumbing adapters. You tighten the fitting on the tool with the hose clamp, then adjust the clamp on the other end so the vac hose may be inserted & removed without tools. You can wrap the holse clamps with tape if you are worried about scratching your project.

I use the PC 1" hoses on my Festool sanders without a problem.  They're long and inexpensive.

Bill,

Try this one from Fein:http://www.amazon.com/Fein-921072K13-Step-Adaptor/dp/B00005M1SW.  I have two.  One I use to connect to several tools with a standard 1" hole for dust collection.   I cut the other one down to fit my Makita 3X21 belt sander.  They both work great.

Dan.

Here is a good way to see the Fein accessories;

Wow ... $15.00 at Amamzon and $3.50 at Coastal.    Thanks!

"Wow" is right!  $15!?!  That's absurd!  I used the Amazon link only because it was convenient; I didn't check the prices.  I paid about $5 at my local Woodcraft.

I second Dan on the usefulness of the Fein step adapters.  I also have two that I use with my CT22.  I've left the smallest section on one and cut it off the other.  Between the two I can connect to about anything.  I also picked mine up for under 5 bucks at my local Woodcraft.

Thanks everyone. I got 4 of the Fein adapters today from Coastal and all I can say is "Look out dust ... you're about to be extracted"
