Hi Guys

I'm new on here (2nd post I think [tongue])

I bought a Milwaukee 18v impact driver / drill set last year (a good deal at the time as I was looking at a Hilti set).

Working yesterday on Trespa type material I now realise I need to get a screwdriver as well as an impact driver, I was thinking maybe the CXS but am unsure whether it will have enough torque (especially on solid laminates).

Also £200.00 I can live with for an additional driver but with only 1 battery (I went through 4 no yesterday drilling not driving & a 16.5hr day got home 2min to midnight [eek]) I am not so sure.

Any advice.

P.S ended up on here after reading & then buying the new plunge saw & guide rails 4 weeks ago, I can see why it's a slippery slope [big grin]

Welcome Andyman

I don't think the CXS will be enough for you.  The C12 or C15 would be better (or one of the T drills)

I thought it maybe a bit on the light side, are the drills you mention worth the extra money?

I have owned Makita, Metabo, Hilti, Hitachi, now Milwaukee & know to a certain extent you get what you pay for, but there seems to be a trade off between paying a reasonable price & over the odds.

In my experience there is no 1 manufacturer who makes the ideal tool for each application

I think it simply depends on how much you will use the tool. For example, I was going to buy a Fein multimaster but came to the conclusion that since I would only use it a few times a year, a $50 tool would be good enough. Certainly IMHO, the Festool drills are the best for a number of reasons, that have already been discussed many times  and I really appreciate my C15. But I would not buy one for occasional or infrequent use. There are a lot of folks who believe that drills are one area where Festool does not provide a game changer type toool like the TS or Domino but if you want the smoothest, easiest to control drill and power to weight ratio, Festool is it.

YES!  Well Worth IT!  I own T15 and own the Milwaukee M18 impact drill its a good impact drill only when it works!  ((I have had 2 replacements (new)   then after that I had it repaired TWICE Milwaukee have finally admitted that their is a major fault with the impact drills and any one who sends their impact back into repair should get the new replacement motors ))

Any way back to what I was getting at! T15 is brilliant love the drill its my favourite drill for all day to day jobs.   Im gone say it! Its the best drill you can ever buy.    Not used a C15 but its the same drill just different body shape.

The Festool drill is very good. Some other  cordless drills are as good, Panasonic being one of them. But the different chucks, set it up a couple notches above everybody as it extend the drill capacity in so many ways. If you add the centrotec system, you then have a drill system that has no rival in the industry.

These added capacity comes at a price but the added quality and speed in your work guaranties a very quick return on your investment.
