ive made some kitchen units with 18mm ply and i cant decide how to finish the edges im thinking
fill it sand it paint it
iron on edge banding
timber lipping pinned on and painted over

what are my other options ? i really dont know anything about edge banding.

maybe you can suggest what part of the forum this would be best in ?

I see you asked on the other edge treatment thread. I recommend bond in that case because of the particleboard sheets being used. Bondo will work into the voids and hold well to the particleboard edge. The plywood edge is much smoother, bond is not the proper choice in this application.

Iron on edge banding would be quick and simple (at times it can be a pain to apply properly), the solid timber will take a little longer, but if you have what you need laying around it saves the running out to get the iron on. With the solid you do not have to be dead on with your thickness, after you apply it you trim the edges flush, then you can cut the sides to size by trimming the solid edge with your TS.

Would a shop that does MDF do banding on plywood for you?
Seems easier than ironing if they do.

the plywood carcass's are already assembled so i think painting is maybe the best compromise as i can just get on with it ?

Fill, sand, fill sand, prime, sand, prime, sand, paint.

this is the kitchen will have to get pics of the edge for you but they came out well with sanding and multiple coats of zinser perma white the tsc was the key to perfect edges to start with and the good quality paint helped massively, as well as a little trick with a stanley blade to scrape off any excess dry drip's
