Advice on Fuji Mini Mite 3 please

Noting all your points gents. Thanks very much for your input.

Bearing in mind that one set of nozzle/needles seem to work, would it be OK to use these. Would I get a finish at all ?

Try them, see what happens.

Based on your pictures it looks like both nozzles are for the 5H.
In any event 5H needle and nozzle look like they are your best bet to spray with however you will have to cut back your fluid delivery (blue knurled cap on the back of the gun) if you are using a clear or high viscosity coating with this needle.
The 4H is the standard all round set that was shipped with those XPC guns, but your 4H needle really looks like it got used to ream out a goats butt.

Mainly MDF...interior stuff, tables, cabinets. Purely DIY. Really need a sprayer like a chocolate watch but its nice to have things !!
Probably in satin or eggshell paint. I think I will stick to water based as its much easier to clean up.

The 5H should be okay for the product you're spraying. May be a little large if it is over 85ºF when you're spraying.

I barely get out of the midwest here in the United States.

Tom,

Its so damp and dank here, I probably won't spray from October to April !

Mind you, no chance of drought.

Right gents......had to leave home unexpectedly. Back now with some questions.

The pipe which carries paint from cup to gun (Fuji XPC) has white paint inside. Is there any way to get this out ? Using thinners, turpentine, white spirit, without soaking the complete gun. I wouldn't want to soak the whole gun in case I might ruin any washers inside the gun !

I should say that, as it stands, the gun appears to spray water cleanly. Perhaps I should just leave it as is ?

Any help appreciated.

Not familiar with this particular gun but most pickup tubes are removable.  Soak in citrus based cleaner, if this doesn't work, lacquer thinner.

As a little aside, now that you have got your needles/nozles/aircaps nicely sorted in a mini systainer you can fit a mini mite 3 turbine, spray gun, hose and whip hose in a sys 5

Thistleman,

You have me confused with another. I don't have mini systainer for gun parts. I do have a plastic box from Poundland though ! [eek]

Can anyone tell me if this lid need a washer, or is the white rubbery ring the actual washer. I know washers are available for the gun, but bought it used and this is the way it came... Thanks

Yes the white rubbery ring is a washer.
It looks like it could use a cleaning.
It should come out, but that one looks pretty well seated so be careful and don't tear it if you don't have another one.
If the cup is sealing properly, it should be fine otherwise buy another one.

Thanks Tim,

I was tempted to prise it out but its really well stuck. I get tiny amount of bubbling from the cup lid when using the gun so a new washer is required.
If I could get an adapter to connect a standard gun to the Fuji hose I would change the gun, but apparently that cannot be done, and the new Fuji gun is just short of £300.
Thanks again

You don't need a new gun. Get a spray gun cleaning kit and some spray gun/line cleaner. Use the brushes that come in the cleaning kit to clean out you siphon tube. With some new needles and caps and some new seals for your cup and a little elbow grease it'll be like new.
Keep your gun clean and it will work well.
I wouldn't connect a standard or conventional gun to the HVLP turbine. Most standard or conventional non-HVLP turbine guns are not designed to work with the low pressure turbines produce.

Right Tim,

Cleaning brush set ordered. Trying to source cleaning fluid here in UK. No luck yet. Can get them in 12's, but not singly. Will keep trying on web.

Will fluid break down dried paint coating syphon tube walls in conjunction with brushes ?

The cleaner I linked to with the brushes will break down dried paint on the gun and in the siphon tube. Any good gun and line cleaner should work but I have found the soy based one I linked to is the best so far. I usually dip the part or brush into the cleaner and apply a thick coating and brush. Takes a couple tries. Make sure you rinse completely so you don't contaminate your coatings.
