Alternative to the parallel guides

Yes, I have a set and they work perfectly.  Much cheaper alternative then a lot of ways out there (other than making your own).  RMW is a very creative guy and comes up with a lot of good ideas, this being one of them.  You won't be disappointed with them.

Isn't that from our members Seneca Woodworking, who also market the domiplate?

I like them much better than the Festoy variety.  Much quicker set up and can use in less space.
The main problem i have in a small working space with the parallel guides is that they can only be set up at the outer edges of the board/sheet to be cut.

Sometimes there just is not the space for such setup.  RMW's Rip guides can be set up on top of the board/sheet at any points.  in my shop, this is a very big advantage.

Actually the one listed on eBay is the version produced by John of Tool Improvements, he is a member of FOG and has also produce different dogs for the MFT and the infamous Slop Stop

No once again. John created a few nice accessories but Rip Guide is not one of them. There is another member of FOG who deserves the credit.
I have both original Festool Parallel Guides and Rip Guides. Both work very well. Rip Guide is a bit faster to set up and one can have the Incra track longer or shorter if desired.

I purchased these and find them to be great. I looked at the ebay page, its the one I ordered from, and they were made and mailed (promptly) by RMW.

Since you add your own separately purchased t-track, I ended up making a very short t-track set (cut down to 9" or so, don't remember the exact size) that allows very easy handling of the guide rail and parallel guide assembly. This is very handy, esp. for working in a small space, as I do, and there is little stress on the extrusion while handling from the cantilevered weight of a 24" guide set dangling off the guide rail. The short set is sized for making cuts under 16" or so (?-can't remember exact number at the moment), which is the majority of my saw work.

However I can easily and quickly change out to my longer t-track set for doing wider cuts, like 24" base cabinet sides, etc.

A well thought out and well made accessory, with great service on the order.

The Rip Guides from RMW come without the Incra extensions.  I had already ordered the 18" Incra T-Trac plus's to use with the guides.
I got one while the second Incra extension seems to be on back order.  i've been waiting for well over a month now, maybe two months.

For the time being, i have some Kreg T-tracs and am using the Incra for one side and a Kreg trac for the other.
The Kreg works ok; but te Incra works perfectly with the Rip Guides.

The Incra tracs are light weight enough tht i can leave the Trac & guide attached while i leave the festool saw rail standing vertically.

I have a pair also. I think they work great. light weight and compact. very versatal with changing out the t-track to larger or smaller sizes. They definitely dont take up a lot of space.

Either RMW is suddenly shy, busy elsewhere, or trying to avoid being seen as commercial, but he went through the process of developing these things in threads here in the FOG. Someone (who has time to search) should post a link to those threads.

The only problem I see is with the multiple ebay postings. It seems like you can buy 1 set, 2 sets, or 3 sets but the photos for each listing are the same so it's hard to tell what you're actually going to get.

Also, I don't know why anyone would want 3 parallel guide sets. One seems like it wold work quite well and be easy enough to transfer to another rail.

I believe that I can offer some insight.  RMW developed a set of parallel guides (a competing product) with input from the members here.  He has been asked not to market them here.  You may certainly contact him off the public areas of the forum.

Too bad you can not set up a PAID section of the forum for products like this.  It would be nice to know about thing like the, qwas dogs, domiplate, Ripe Guide and other non-Festool accessories...

Greg,

Non-competitive accessories can be posted here with no need to have a paid section. We don't mind innovative forum members promoting their accessories that complement the Festool system. However, a product that directly competes with a Festool product is not allowed, which is the case here.

sound fair, Thanks

used mine for the first time today.  They are smaller, lighter, and just more maneuverable than the festool guides.  I used to use two rails to breakdown sheets, one to clean the edge, and the other attached to the parallel guides.  with these I can do both operations with one rail.

Thanks for all of the good advice.  Too bad I cannot get them shipped to Canada  [scared]
