that has always been my goal is 10 cards a day which is 3,650 cards a year... here is an example of what can happen and did happen
never know where business comes from...
i always say give out 10 business cards a day to anybody , so several months ago I was at the waffle house and was sitting next to a lady and stuck up a conversation, turns out she is a kitchen designer at the big box.. gave her my card.. about 2 months go buy and I get a call from a couple who had gone into the big box to have some cabinets made and since they do not do that she gave them my number.

did a set of built ins for them in their new 29 home neighborhood. then they referred me to a neighbor, the ones I did that awesome hickory built in, and also did a mudroom bench, and I'm doing beadboard around their bar.... next i invite them for drinks and food at a restaurant they and I hang out out just right down the street from their houses, i did not buy! while sitting their another couple they know comes and sits down and it turns out they own the business next door who sells antiques and junk and is also an interior designer.. give her my card, and within a week i get a a call from a refferel from her and they want several built ins by the fire place...booked that job also.... then the originally referral just booked another built in wall unit for another room in their house

so from that originally just handing out a card at random basically and striking up a conversation has brought in over $17,000 of business

nice!

I'm not like that with cards,  but I do try to talk about what I do as much as possible with people.

Kreg, I love your enthusiasm and the ways you present yourself!

I'm curious- in your market, how far out are you generally booked?
And do you ever find yourself turning down work?

Good info buddy.

When i was retiring from my day job I was going to take your advice about the business cards. But it appears now, I aient retiring. I got another gig going on that will tie me up for a few years. Then Ill use your advice about the business cards.

Kreg, you're the kind of guy I don't want to talk with, gets expensive  [big grin]

Seriously though this is what I was talking about in another thread, you're building yourself as a brand in your community, let people know you exist, be nice to get along with, deliver the goods and work comes. Well done!
