SoI was looking around the FOG tonight and my beautiful wife looked over my shoulder and started to giggle. I asked what was so funny, she replies "you have yourself listed as a Festool Rookie in your signature".

So this leads me to wonder at what point am I no longer to consider myself a "Rookie"?

hi pete.

its a 4 year apprenticeship.
so technically you are still a rookie!

you need to spend the same amount that you have spent in the last 10 months, every year.
then we will be happy to teach you the secret handshake.

regards, justin.

If you have to wonder, you still are one. When you're out of that phase, you just "know".........

I will always be a rookie in everything I do and the minute I think any different my quality will suffer and the desire to improve will vanish.

If that's the philosophy that works for you, go for it.

I think this thread was more a stealth gloat than about if your still a festool rookie!  [poke] [poke] [poke]

OP, I like how you say you are going to get a Carvex in 3 months. [laughing]  You might not be a rookie, but you are optimistic.

Definite sure sign of a rookie:  That charming hopefulness about NAINA items.    [wink]

Or in the case of the Carvex:  MAINA  (Momentarily Available in North America)

I dunno. I'm not sure you're really a rookie. But the bits and pieces that really have me feeling ready for the brown belt exam are all of the router accessories for the 1010 and 1400. Flush trimming setup, edge guide fence, guide rail stop blocks, LR-32, which is good for SO much more than just drilling holes. MFS, to a point.

I dunno where the line is, but at some point the accessories begin to compound the ability to improvise in new ways. It's not just about the shopping list.

All that trash talking aside, I still don't have an MFT, which probably inhibits my own growth to a point...
