Amazon - you just gotta laugh (miter gauge snafu)

But note that Amazon has its limits on the number of returns you make.  I assume the limit is related to the total number of purchases, but Amazon does not call out its exact policy.

Amazon's practice of banning customers for excessive returns got significant attention this week after The Wall Street Journal reported on the lesser-known limit to Amazon's generous returns policy. The company says bans are "rare occasions," but declined to say how many customers have been affected.

Banning customers isn't something Amazon takes "lightly, but with over 300 million customers around the world, we take action when appropriate to protect the experience for all our customers," the company said in a statement Tuesday.

IM pretty sure that it takes A LOT for Amazon to ban someone.  Truthfully if someone is abusing the system it drives up prices for the other good customers.  Plus you end up with pieces of clay and poopy products which also effects the others.  So they should be banned and the policy is probably to lenient if anything.  I buy a ton of stuff off Amazon and have very few returns and when I do its typically their fault either they send a wrong, used item or the description is wrong. I actually just checked in the last 3 months I have had 105 orders and 1 return (for a metric button head cap screw kit that was supposed to be stainless) but was clearly not.  There was also 2 shipments that for whatever reason wasnt deliverable and I never got so they issued a refund (im assuming the package got damaged in transit) If you get banned I can only imagine what type of BS they were trying to pull.

I mostly return things for fit.  Extra-large shirts that are not extra-large; wide shoes that are not wide enough, etc.

Usually if the description is not accurate some one in the reviews will point that out.  I always read the reviews.

Like you, I strongly suspect it's based on the percentage of your purchases you return as well as the reasons. I've probably averaged returning an item to Amazon about once every two months for the last decade and haven't had any issues, but that's out of around ~400 orders through them a year, so it's a very small portion of the total.

Same for me.  Been with them since the beginning and I do order a lot of stuff from them.  I might return 2-3 things a month but I order way more than that.  Wouldn't be good business for them to kick me out.
