A little quick job I fitted this week. An old customer if mine asked me to clad this kitchen island in 2x1 oak. I'd done a similar thing before for them in their last house.

I didn't fit the kitchen just came in to clad the island which was too difficult for the fitter lol.

It's all being filled and oiled by the Decorator.

Not much Festool used on this I just used my trusty old makita chopsaw to do all 102 mitre joints. The kapex stayed home.

Looks good.
Doesn't look too difficult. Takes experience, patience and planning maybe the fitter had none.

really nice look, I like the lines they flow.  Any chance you can get a pic of it post finishing? I'm sure it will really pop.

I like it, a few extra boards really changed the look of the island. Finished photos would be really nice to help compare.

Cheers Tim , the fitter made the black painted MDF boxes each end that I nailed the oak to. All the edges were butted and badly aligned. That's the trouble with so called kitchen fitters, a lot of them have very basic skills.

As you say it's not a complicated job just takes patience and eye for detail to keep it all looking right. Annoying part was where he hadnt made the boxes quiet square. If he had then all the mitres would be 45's instead they were all different.

I'll try to get finished pics if I can but I don't think it will look too much different. They want it to stay natural, I'm only guessing oil finish but it could be just a Matt varnish I don't know.

I'm just curious how the nail holes will be filled and how visible they will be.
