Angled cuts with a TS

This is a question that was bugging me while doing some angled cuts with my TS75 the other day :

When you have a rail and zero clearance strip cut for a particular saw,  is the strip maintained when an angled cut is made? And,  is the edge of the strip still just shy of the now-angled blade?

It's not exactly clear to me how both could happen unless the pivot point is in line with the edge of the strip itself,  which seems impossible at first blush.

It is possible because TS (just like table saw) uses trunions that lack physical central pivot.
