Another Hand Plane Storage Rack....

Nice organization, but I'm curious as to why you have the planes (especially the ones on the right) positioned pointing downward.  It seems like it might be somewhat awkward to grab them by their handles.  Am I missing something?

I had the same question, but wondered if the planes were stored the other way, the pane blades might be blocking the door/lid.
 
The front lip of the planes provides a better resting point than the back.

When I install magnets I might switch them around. Right now based on the orientation of the plane they are not sticking out much….
 
Mine are also stored facing down. The reason is that, with the handle at the top, and help on a slope, the planes take up less space (stick out less).
