LMAO

I think it is a little different if someone is using they tool because they really believe in it - versus they are using it because they got it for free, etc
Of course to the KoolAid drunks - it makes no difference

Perhaps you can elucidate why that would be important or of any consequence? It isn't to me.
Cheers,
Frank (Now back in the "fun house" of Nigeria)
Well, it's called guerilla marketing, product placement or other things. Bond has his Rolex, then Omega. He has his Aston Martin, then his BMW for a while (lol) whilst baddies drive Jaguars.
I mean, we don't see that chap who won the Framework thing around here so much any more do we. Not since he did the video for Festool America and we saw him use some Festools on the show.
I'd love to be wrong mind you, it's just that when you go to a trade show there are more Festool employees there than any other single company.
Bosch leave it to a shop to represent them, as do Mafell, and nearly every other manufacturer I can think of. So whist it may not be important (to you) it is interesting?
Festool's marketing is a thing to behold. I ought to know, I'm writing on a part of it right now.

[member=44289]JoryBrigham[/member] - you around? What are you working on?

Doesn't matter if it was dressed it up as "hey, why not try this tool for a while, and hey, whilst you're at it, why not produce a pretty video & upload it to YouTube saying how much you like the [insert tool]". Ta.
I'm cynical, but whatever his name was that I was rooting for on Framework hasn't been around here for a while, if that was even him mind you.
At one time, Festool indicated that they do not pay people to use their tools, this was when This Old House (Tom Silva) was using on the show. Maybe times have changed and they are in fact using "endorsers" on certain shows. To me it doesn't make any difference.
If Festool wants to give tools or pay people for doing videos for them on their YouTube channel then that is their right. As for Jory (framework), he was using Festools long before he went on the show and because of his creative designs I am sure intrigued Festool for promotional videos. I know he was asked to join the FOG during the show because of the interest from other members. If he doesn't want to be active, that is his choice, just like the rest of us.
Haha, thanks man! I've been mia for awhile, just now getting to scroll down all these comments. Pretty funny. If you mean Jory Brigham, most likely you'll find him in his shop making stuff. Perhaps he and others were expected or required to do a bit of promotional work for the show or for the sponsors during the show's running but I don't think he was on this forum that much to begin with. I'm sure he's working his butt off trying to run his custom furniture business, not hanging around the ol' FOG water cooler debating who-knows-what to the n-th degree.
