Anti-Static or Non-Anti Static Hose

Am I good to go to run a shortened non-antistatic hose from my Kapex to the CT26 without fear of damaging any electronics/circuit boards if I do not live in a low humidity environment?

Thank you.

Was the idea of static damaging circuit boards ever acknowledged by Festool to be anything more than apocryphal?

The new inexpensive vac (CT 15) is being shipped with a non AS hose. Does that mean static is not an issue with circuit boards or has the design been improved to protect them?

I’ve used a non-AS cyclone with a first gen CT Mini for a decade.

I think the electronics are correctly grounded anyway.  That’s not where the hose is for.

The AS hose is only there (disclaimer: my thoughts) to prevent  potential dust explosion, since its possible your hose gets static charged (because of friction).

For a stationary setup I don’t see any problem with using the non-AS hose.

Just a side note, even when the conductive path is not continuous, as in my old Mini/cyclone setup, I still get some substantial benefit from using an AS hose to the cyclone compared to the non-AS hose. There is less shocking but more importantly to me, less build up of dust on the outside of the hose.

I wouldn’t take a used non-AS hose into a finished home.

Considering that Festool sells non-AS hoses to be used with there vacuums there should be no problem with regard to the OPs question.

It is to prevent the user from getting shocked when you touch the hose. It is a mild shock, but still pretty irritating. I feel it often. I use my non-AS hoses often, but it also happens sometimes with the AS hose, probably because the wall socket isn't properly grounded.

You don't need to live in a dry climate to get static build up, I live 3 km from the coast line of the North Sea, and we have a very high air humidty here.

I've never seen any adversary effect on my vacs though.
