Please excuse my ignorance, but I don't understand level of risk here.

I am building my own custom design router table.

Will have above and below the table dust collection.

Plan to use Festool vac with Festool hose. Will use older (purchased some years ago) Festool Y to go to both above and below table dust collection ports.

I need short (3-4 ft) hose extension to reach below table.

How strong in the need to have the extension be anti-static?  Does it need to be Festool branded hose?

Is the older Festool Y antistatic?

Further Info.  This is for a hobbyist shop. Unfortunately, only used 2-4 hrs a week.

Thanks in advance for suggestions and advice.

I made my own router table as well and had the dust collection set up as shown in the picture below. I found I wasn't getting the best collection on the top with the two going into the same line. I now use the 4" line on the bottom only and then use my CT26 on the top.

Good advice above - for your router table, the under the table collection effectiveness is going to be fairly weak with a vac unless you have a really close fitting box around your router (which may lead to overheating). If you have even a medium size box, a vac is not going to be effective IMO. mleny77's configuration is going to be better. Vacs are good at collecting dust close to the pipe (which is the case above the table), but don't have the necessary flow to capture dust in a large or even medium size area. For example, the Festool vac is about 140CFM, whereas even a cheap single stage dust collector is going to be pulling 4 or 5 times that amount.

Of course some collection is better than none, but just setting expectations
