I was working on an idea for an Anti Tip clip for the TS55, for when using the saw for cutting miters. From my experience (stupid me) I didn't think may saw would tip off the track and it fell to the floor cracking the aluminum housing. Live and Learn. But I have seen many other manufacturers have a fix for this. I thought I would tackle the issue, but not sure if other would be interested in this 3D printed part.

Here the Clip can be slip to an open position to allow the saw to slip on and off the track easily.

Then when cutting miters, you can push the Clip to engage with the track to keep it from lifting out.
This would be more of a safety feature than used for guiding the saw a 45, because you need to keep downward pressure on the plate to ensure you are getting you 45 deg angle. But it does a great job of keeping your saw on the track.

Feed back welcome.

I am having difficulty spotting the difference between the two photos. Please could you explain it?

The first Photo just showing the saw at the 90 deg position
second shows with it engaged when saw is tilted at 45 deg. I could have just posted the second photo.  [smile]

Great idea! I was wondering if you can put a second one on it?

a rear version is possible, but not really needed as I found one on the front worked well.

I was browsing through the forum for 3D printed stuff and found your message.

great idea !
I'm very new to festool equipment and only recently used my TS55 with track saw.
didn't do much 45° cuts but it is true that it doesn't feel 200% safe and stable.
So this item sounds like a great idea.

However, when I see the item, I can only see 3 or 4 cuts necessary in a stock of wood and then drill a hole to have an equivalent (in wood).
Maybe it would be less solid in wood ... I don't know.

I do think it's a great idea. just not 200% sure 3D printing is the most effective way to produce it.

quick question : which orientation do you print it to ensure the lamination is the right way ?

Injection molding would be better of course, but not cost effective. I printed with the upper side down, Printing on it's side would would be considered the best way, but would require supports which would be messy. I use a heated bed which helps greatly in the layer bonding, and I have not had any structural issues with my prints. This of course is not meant for carrying your saw around on your track. lol.

You could try making one out of wood; however, I think it would be much weaker than a bonded plastic part. I have the bottom of my print made to engage with the saw platform. So it is not flat on the underside.
