Should I order a new cord and replace the entire length, or just replace it with an "aftermarket" plug end? Only hesitation with the latter is how clunky they are.

I just did this a few months ago, ordered an entire new cord. Was easy and worth it. Also, I just changed the hose grate as mine was brittle and cracked to pieces. and I just did the cord older with the rotating piece, vs the fixed like my CT 26 had since I bought it in 2015. The cord part for CT 26,36,48 is Festool 200857. The cord holder I got if your doesn't have it is Festool 203722 Cord Holder CT VP

I’ve used the yellow Leviton replacement plugs. Very robust construction and hookups. Very secure wire clamping too. But…if you are using a strip outlet, it will likely take up more than one space.

About $4.00. Available almost everywhere. Similar looking knockoffs on Amazon, but the Leviton version is the better choice.
