Any interest in a 'Mini First Aid Systainer'?

1 - Yes, I am interested in one for the shop
2 - Tanos is okay - no preference on color
3 - First aid supplies - no meds
4 - items to stem blood loss
5 - Might buy a second as a gift depending on price

There appears to be sufficient interest for me to move forward with trying to put together a Mini First Aid Systainer. I will begin working to see what kind of an assortment makes sense, and exactly what I can fit into a Mini-Systainer.

Per your feedback:

1. First, is anybody interested?

Obviously a yes.

2. Since it would have a red latch with a white cross like its big brother, do you have a preference as to whether its in a Tanos Systainer, or a would you prefer a Festool one?

It will likely be the Tanos version.

3. Do you want it to contain any meds?

There will either be NONE, or only one or two that could be truly life saving, like a couple of Benadryl and an aspirin.

4. Is there anything in particular you'd like to see it contain - or not contain?

Inconclusive at this point - but I didn't give you much to go on so far...

5. Would you buy more than one?

Thanks for helping me understand your situation.

Thanks for your feedback!!!! Give me a couple of weeks to put something together and then I'll post some pictures and a contents list here.

OK, here's my Prototype...

The concept is that this kit will allow you to treat minor and 'mini-trauma' injuries you might find at - say - a picnic, sporting event, or minor motor vehicle accident. There are a LOT of life-saving supplies packed into this kit, along with a small supply of the normal 'first-aid' stuff like bandages. Because of the small size, it is assumed that you will re-supply this kit after every use. I may ship it with some extras of common items like the standard bandages and triple antibiotic ointment so you have some 'back-up'.

There are 4 meds included. Here's what they are and why I included them:

Diphen (aka Benadryl) For Allergy  - there are 4 tablets for a total of 100mg. You will typically only use one, but you have 4 because 4 tablets/100mg is the largest recommended dose for an adult in an extreme situation. While it is no substitute for an EPI-Pen, it might provide enough help to 'postpone' the onset of anaphylactic shock until the Paramedics can get there.

Aspirin - give immediately to anyone showing signs of a heart attack. Let the EMT's,Paramedics or Doctor know that it has been given if possible.

Diamode (aka Imodium) - Stops Diarrhea. Enough said.

Electrolyte - can help to minimize the complications of dehydration, heat stroke, diabetic reaction, rapid heart beat, etc. If you call 911 for your patient or yourself, let them know that you have it if you suspect an electrolyte imbalance from any of the above. Often you can stabalize a patient with just this and some fluids.

So, time for some pictures. Here's everything spread out so you can see it:

And...it fits! (barely):

And here is the list of Contents:

I still need to figure out a couple of costs like the printing for the latch, but I am confident that I can produce it for $100, not including shipping.

Time for comments. Let me know if you like or don't like something, please?

I think it might be a good idea to add in a set of top-quality tweezers (not the junk made in Pakistan or China).  After all, we tend to generate splinters...

Oops - I forgot that some people wanted these for the woodshop. Yes, there needs to be a tweezer so do you want the small surgical steel tweezers or the magnifying tweezers. There are both in the big First Aid Systainer, but there's probably only space for one in the Mini-me?

I was thinking of something with tips something like the PockeTweez; i.e., sturdy, pointed, and good for digging out splinters.

I'm afraid you'll have to add THAT on your own, since it's more than 1/4 the cost of the entire kit! [eek] I will, however, include a tweezer - but I don't know which one yet.

Just put a few banana peels in there.  Wrap the area overnite where splinter is.  In morning, splinter gone.

WOW,  If there is room adding a finger nail clipper would be good.  I believe you suggested adding it to the first aid kits that you previously provided.  FYI and considerations.  Bruce W.

I did consider it, but when I did the original kits I couldn't find a good quality fingernail clipper to include that wasn't like $5 or more. It's another item I may need to leave for you to add on your own.

WOW great work again! Looks like I get to order one of these when you get ready for the order.

WOW,

Just a thought… Something like this may help you out with your project. You could just get these and insert them in a Mini-Systainer. The contents would then be waterproof. There seems to be quite a lot of items in this kit, though I don’t know is the price would be right for you.

Richard:

That kit looks nice, but at a quick glance it includes a fair number of 'fluff' items, and it doesn't include quick-clot, nor the blood stopper, nor a high-quality tweezer.

But thanks for trying to help out!

Hmm, I like that too.

Reminds me I have to renew my dive insurance.
