Any one own one of these?

Ken,

You can be the first!  Love your support of the Fog and willingness to go further.  [popcorn] [popcorn] [popcorn] [popcorn]

Ken's project will be a winner!

well I got the first 3 replaced under warranty..... what an outright exercise in frustration that was!
I, too am intterested in getting one of these.  Could you explain what happened to your radios?

Peter,

I think we better leave that one for Seth if it's going to get done this decade.  [big grin]

LMAO.  Oops.  Fell into that which I hate - those abbreviations.

Ken, why don't you and Seth work this out.

We actually discussed a systainer tv over the phone a few weeks ago. When the mad scientist comes on later, let's see what he has to say.

The first would not play an MP3 CD unless I propped up the front of the unit up with a 2x4. It was promptly returned to place of purchase for exchange.

The second, if I left a battery in it overnight with the unit unplugged, that battery would be stone dead in the am. It too was returned to place of purchase for exchange.

The third one worked, for a few weeks. Then one day if you turned it above a whisper it would behave like it had a bad connection.... sound cutting out. It lasted just long enough for my HomeDepot receipt not to be valid enough to exchange it. So off to factory service it went. That took about a month.

Then it did it again.

After a time it did it again,... just outside of the warranty period. After much debate over the phone I was finally able to get them to give me some "warranty credit" since I didn't think that time spent in transit to/from or in their shop should be counted against my warranty.

The final radio lasted for little while, but after a couple of months it too started doing the dead battery in the AM thing. I just dealt with it, unplugging the battery at night. It was a fight I was tired of fighting. A few years later (a few weeks ago) it just completely died as a radio. The clock still works and it will still charge a battery. However it is far too be to serve a only a clock & battery charger.
