I have purchased several things on the Classified section and had mostly good luck?
I recently purchased something, agreed on price, I PayPal him the money.

The next day I got a msg saying he somehow sold it twice?? I’m unsure how this happens. Then the same person sent a msg telling me what happened but somehow only sent to himself. He issued a refund through PayPal and I did finally get a refund on the 9th day.

I would use the classified and again.

Never an issue but I mostly use it for selling. I only sell to established members on any forum and that seems to work best. If you're a guy with 1 post and just joined, I'll wait for someone else to come along.

Perfect timing.  I have used the classifieds here and on firearms forums for several years.  Have never had an issue buying or selling.  Two weeks ago I bought a Festool machine from a guy here on this forum.  Communications were good, I payed via PayPal, and he gave me a UPS tracking number.  This guy apparently has a legitimate woodworking business and I have seen several of his posts.  No cause to worry.  After three days, UPS shows they have not received the item from the seller. I call him, no answer, no return calls.  DM him on this forum, no answer.  Checked his company website and its blank and the url has changed and has the word 'suspended page' embedded in it, so I get a little worried.  Give it two more days and nothing changes so I file a claim with PayPal.  They don't respond to any emails at all for a couple of days.  I checked on my claim and I am given the option to escalate it, which I do.  Again, nothing from PayPal but I see that they are giving the seller until April 15 to respond.  This morning, I see a refund from PayPal for the full amount.  So, in the end, I got my money back but it was very frustrating in the mean time.  But PayPal should work on its customer service.

To say PayPal needs to work on their customer service is an understatement! Glad it worked out for you

My first guess would be the item was listed on more than one site, and it just happened to sell twice before he could take the listing  down everywhere.

I agree fully(this individual had between 500-1000 posts) and to be fair lots of my frustration was with PayPal, but to be fair it should have never happened but in the end it all worked out.

I was approached by someone when I posted [WTB]. He/She offered me good price.  I asked for a picture and that picture was from Festool-Youtube channel explaining that tool. LOL That person just screenshot and cropped part of that video with the tool.  I checked when that person joined FOG and it was practically a day I posted [WTB].  Be careful guys!

I've never used any Classified service in social media to buy something. EBay, Etsy and Kijiji are the only places that I have got something from a private seller. EBay and Kijiji are where I'd sell things I no longer need.

No real issues.
I only put one thing up and Just didnt get any responses. I waited like 48 hours still no response.

So I put the very same tool same verbage on a local FB woodworking group and got a response in 20 mins.

I sold it about a hour afterwards.

My advice is when you put something up on the classifieds, name your price.

When people put something up for sale ya never know what people are going to offer, they dont know what to offer.

This is a starting point, i think it will help you from getting low balled

Remember its always negociable.
