Not looking to start a flame thread... but if you are an Apple fan, did you get up (or stay up) late and order one?  Call me crazy but it is an event that takes place at least once a year in my family.  Got my 6 plus on order... look forward to joining the ranks of the "big boys"!

Cheers.  Bryan.

Not yet, but what on earth are you paying for in your plans? That makes 2000€+ in 24 months!!!

I have unlimited voice, messages and 4G data for 30€/month here... Does your monthly plan include the iPhone's purchase price as well or do you have to pay for that separately like we do?

Also surprised of the very high monthly cost of the subscription. But I'm sure it includes the iPhone. Here you have those options too.

I would have ordered last night, but I'm leaving for Africa today, and won't be back until Nov 2nd, so it would be fruitless.

That being said, I will be ordering the 6 Plus before I get back if for no other reason than the bigger screen will give me better visualization when controlling my new DJI Drone! [tongue]

Oh.... My wife and I will BOTH be getting the watch when released!! [thumbs up] [drooling]

Still awaiting the 4K Apple TV that is rumored in the future!

Cheers,

Frank

There is a pretty good thing going on, if you have an iPhone (4, 4s, 5c 5s) you can trade it in for a $200 credit, which makes the iPhone 6 free.  Most cell providers are participating.  Based on some of the things I read, this is a better deal for the 4 than the 5.

I'm choosing to wait to see what Samsung and BlackBerry will bring out in the next four or five months.  If I convert from BlackBerry to anything else, the conversion effort will be massive due to the inability of carriers to migrate all data from one platform to a different one.  I'm not looking forward to that.

Hey guys.  Nope.  the price above doesn't include the price of the phone.  The monthly basics are definitely misleading, my portion of the monthly tally is actually about 85.00 USD per month.  My wife and I are on a family plan along with 2 other devices.  The price per month above also doesn't include the monthly discount we get.  Lastly, this is my corporate and business line so my cost is covered by my company.  Net/net, my out of pocket cost for my phone with tethering, my wife's iPhone with unlimited data and our other two data plans cost around $50.00 per month.

I do look forward to the larger format.  Some of my engineers and employees have larger phones and while I didn't like the phone OS per say, I did like the screen real estate!

In the US, they subsidize the phone into the plan.  Even though you aren't paying for the phone in the plan, you are.  It is a very strange relationship between phone manufacturers and the carriers.  We also don't have a lot of unlocked iPhones to pick from (if you want a newly released one).  That generally changes around Thanksgiving here.  The end of November.

My trade in plan means handing my phone down to my wife, son or daughter.  I think my 5 is getting passed to my daughter this time and my wife may get the 6 (4.7") later if she is interested.

I noticed that the Apple store now shows if you ordered right now, it is a 3-4 week lead time...

The increased real estate on the screen is a negative in my world.  Small is better for me.  If I want large, I'll get out my laptop.

Or you could unlock your old phone with a call to your provider and then sell it for 2-3 times that amount ($400-700). And make money. I've made money on every phone I've ever had. Usually double what I pay for it. It's like trading in a car - if you think the dealer is giving you a deal you have to remember they are planning on making money on top of it as well. 5 minutes of your time is worth a few hundred at minimum.

Sprint is offering a 'Pre-Order' discount of $150 off any model of phone, for as many as you want to activate. You have to agree to a 24-month contract, which is pretty standard anyway.

So if you want - say - a 64gb iPhone 6, instead of paying $299 you pay $149 after the credit, which is applied to your bill about one month after after the phone ships. If you want a 128gb iPhone 6 PLUS, instead of paying $499 you pay $349 after the credit.

You can still do a trade in or keep and sell your old phone.

Glad to see others do this as well.  Unlocking an unused phone is simple.  If it is in good shape, you can make  killing on it!

I did eventually get my order in around 3:30 this am. It's a ritual usually for me too and a few friends!  I had to go through the att site due to the nature of my upgrade...it was disastrous. By the time I finished out the time frame is around October 13-22 for my delivery. Oh well...first world problems I guess!  Maybe I'll have the watch before I have the phone...

Anybody know what the story with unlocking sprint phones is?  I have a pair of 4s's and I'm well out of contract. As far as I know, I can unlock the phone, but it will only be good on carriers that use sprint's network. When people advertise "clean ESN" is that basically what they are referring to?  For GSM, my understanding is sprint will only unlock for international use. For domestic they will not unlock GSM?

Finally, if I want to switch to another carrier and not get locked into a 2 year contract, I need to buy the phone outright. I'm okay with that however it seems like AT&T and Verizon both only offer options with a 2 year contract right now. Is there no other way?

AT&T's rate plans are so uncompetitive now and their network is suffering from overcrowding.

My family made the switch over to T-Mobile, 4 lines, 2.5GB/line/month (with no overages...just slower speeds, and music isn't counted against your cap), $100/month. Yeah, for a family of four. People say their network lacks coverage, but we haven't seen that yet.

I think we save over $130-140 PER MONTH over what AT&T was charging us. [eek]

If you consider the device fees (which we paid up front for our devices), it's still about $50/mo savings. Unreal what we pay for wireless in this country.

My wife would love the plus. And more storage. I am looking forward to getting the 4.7 screen. The bigger screens are nice but I carry my phone with me while  working and don't think it would be comfortable to carry one too big. Can't wait to see them in the stores and feel them in the hand.

I'm aghast at the plan costs in the USA.  I pay £16 ($26) a month for unlimited calls to landlines and other mobiles, unlimited texts and 1GB of 4G data.

Airtime is one of the few things that's cheaper in Europe than the USA.

And no, I didn't order an iPhone 6.  My 5S is only just a year old and is more pocketable.  I'll use my iPad Air for any web browsing, and 1GB is plenty for emails.

It's time me and the Mrs upgrade the iphone 3 & 4, and the 6 family looks compelling though the Mrs likes smaller phones and this trend to 'bigger' has her a bit frustrated about purse real estate. We will be waiting at least 3-4 months for some of the bleeding edge kinks to work out, there have been way too many 'first release' problems in the past and I'm happy to let the neophiliacs deal with them. And by then an Otter Box will be available. Without a good case the purchase is pointless for me unless my 4 dies unexpectedly.

Agree about the case. I signed up for notifications from both OtterBox and Speck. I have their ToughSkin Duo on my 5s and really like it, but I will probably go with whomever I can get a good case from soonest.
