Anyone else order a new iPhone?

My wife and I still have 12 months left on our contracts for our iPhone 5's. I guess I'll be waiting for the iPhone 7 to come out next fall. [crying]

No! iPhone 6 too damn big. 5s is borderline. I'll hang onto my 5s as long as possible and get the watch for NFC payments .

Then hope apple comes to their senses on these size issues/envy.

Apple, it's not the size of your screen , it's how you wiggle your pixels ..,,,

In UK and i think its an European law.  all network suppliers have to offer a fair priced monthly contract by law within Europe..    Thing is they don't tell any one and they don't offer it with phone deals you gotta get the contract sim card only and you gotta call the network supplier up and specifically ask for this SIM card deal.

I won't be getting the iphone 6 or plus until my iphone 5 is no good any more.  Which I'm sure apple will make sure it won't be after a while.  I'm pretty sure they slow their old devices down over time.  My iPad 1 is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Slow its stupid its unusable.  I know when I first bought it years ago it was usable.  Same with the iphone 4 its so slow I use my wife's iphone 4 and it's just so slow.  Both iPad and iPhone 4 I deleted everything and started fesh still the same.

Problem I have with apple iPhones  I hate and love them.  I love them because they are just simple and easy to use, run smooth and fast (begin with)  apple service is good.

I hate them because their technology is always outdated before they are even released.  The iphone was a revolution but now all apple are doing is playing catch up but they just ain't catching up.  Example iphone 6 and plus both are already out of date compared to android phones.  Just wish apple brought something new out special unique.  Like they did years ago.

I fully agree with your frustration, but in defense of Apple I must point out that in most cases when they have incorporated a technology they accompany it with a market wide push to actually drive adoption of that technology.

I've been a Nokia customer until iPhone 3GS came out, I've had every model of their communicators an nGage, every 'banana' model and 2110's and they were packed with all bells and whistles which never caught on in the market and were basically just added manufacturing costs. Remember things like WAP, GPS before apple and google maps, MP3 playback before any music stores existed, Java ME apps and SIM toolkit applets before appstores existed... See a trend?

I see the same happening again with Android devices - they've had NFC for years, nowhere to use it, they've had sensor devices (step meters, HR straps, etc.), but no central place to integrate the readings in one place, there has been Google Pay - nowhere to use it and the list goes on...

Apple has had the sense to figure out the ecosystems required to actually drive adoption of these 'old' technologies and then they make sure that when a piece of tech gets introduced in their hardware products they have the underlying infrastructure ready to roll out. (They did fail miserably with mobile device and enterprise server management and I hope they fired the VP's who decided to leave those critical bits of back-end for third part developers who failed miserably at it)

Also, for the most part, Apple products seem to be bullet-proof; extremely reliable and easy to use, but it is all in what you get used to using. I've resisted smart phones till now since I just don't need all email capability on the phone. At this point, it's hard to get a "regular" phone anymore from Verizon and I stick with Verizon because the coverage is better in almost every area I am. So, I probably will go with a smart phone this time when I upgrade and will go with an iPhone, especially now that the screen is just slightly bigger. I use a Samsung Galaxy for work and have found it too large and clumsy to use. I also like the App Store for applications. I have had some problems with apps from Google Play on another Android device.

I hate blowing money on every little technology upgrade that comes along, so I'm still good with my 1990 Radio Shack.

It has almost no features at all, but I do get a lot of good exercise carrying it around.  [smile]

Radio Shack from Tandy

I have to say...  The iPhone 6 plus is a beast!  I really like it and combined with iOS 8, it is a great way to get things done. Any others pick one up?  Mine got delivered Friday around 10:00 AM so I have been running it hard for about 2.5 days and the battery holds up well.

I will have to give an update late this week.

Cheers. Bryan.

I upgraded to the 6 - the 6 plus was a bit too large for me.  Like the new features of IOS8 as well as the new phone design.

I wonder how many people realize that you couldn't use that phone on any network in existence today...

Maybe that's why I never get any calls.  [smile]

I think your idea is the best - being disconnected?

As with my gripe about the lack of a real waterproof offering with the up coming Apple Watch, the iPhone is moving away from my ideal "useful" format.

The larger screen would be good from a work / cafe / commute perspective, but absolutely rubbish from a running, cycling or water sports perspective (even in a pouch ... just TOO BIG).

Does it really make sense to get a third compact phone and SIM when I already have an iPhone and iPad, both with SIMS? (I'd only consider a third SIM in a "sports phone" as I'm not particularly interested in receiving calls, just being able to make them / phone for help, etc).

When are we going to go SIMless anyway? - antiquated stupid tech if ever there was!

i ordered the 6. should be here the end of sept. I upgraded to the 128GB (run my company off of it and 16 gb was a pita) and hopefully can trade my 5S in for a few bucks. The Plus just seemed to big to me, Like using an iPad to call someone lol.

So we all went smaller and smaller and now phones are getting as big as an iPad mini.....smh

I am still using the iPad 2 and a 2 yr old mac air. Haven't seen anything out from apple worth upgrading them .

When are the "Designers" going to come up with hip pockets that are big enough for these new phones?

What will they look like?

I'm scared...

iPants ?

I'll probably swing by the Apple store in a few weeks to see these new things. The 6+ just sounds way too big for me, but I'll reserve judgement till one is in my hands. I just hope the battery life far exceeds my 4
