Anyone else order a new iPhone?

I got my iphone 6 yesterday upgrading from the 4s. Will be a bit to get use to the size increase, but going from a 16g to a 64 is nice. Since my contract was up they gave me $200 for my phone 4s at Sprint and I walked out with a new iphone 6 (64gig) for $100+tax. They are basically matching Verizon's $200 buy back program.

I think pretty soon Apple will start selling cargo pants as an IPhone accessory. [big grin] [big grin]

It is called the Apple watch... Comes out next year.

I have the Samsung Note 3, compared the iPhone 6 plus next to the Note and the iPhone is even larger than the Note. The 6 looked nice for size. I haven't had the Note for a year yet so shall leave that decision for a while yet (My wife said " when has that ever stopped me!") also I do like the stylus on the Note.
I have just bought a Kapex so better be a good boy for now. There is a new Kindle coming out soon and I do love my Kindle.

A refreshing blast to the past with iOS8 on my old iP5S & iPad3 - just received a call on my iPad when I was on it when the call came in and I wasn't near my phone. ICloud to the rescue.

They finally figured out what Samsung has known for years now, size and choice. Next they will add a stylus and multiwindow display. LOL. Note 4 for me, makes my life and job easier.

I believe Apple's average revenue per phone is probably a little over $600, or twice your number.

We don't see that because in the US most phones are subsidized by the carriers with a multi-year contract commitment.

I have no idea how Apple books the revenue from the carriers. I don't know if it comes at one time when the phone is activated, or monthly, or what. And - for this particular comment - I don't care. But it's OK if you do.

My numbers were only intended to reflect the value of those sales at retail. And only a rough reflection, at that. I just thought that a BILLION dollars a DAY is quite an accomplishment?

Yes $1B seems like a lot until you realize Apple does about a half billion a day every day.  $180b / 365 days. 

Whats interesting to me is the volume of launch weekend.  Check out this graph on the iPhone, iPad, and Samsung volume comparisons...

Hey Tim how's life treating you? I currently have a Note 2 and will upgrade to the Note 4 which should be available within the next month. I got mine after talking to a follow woodwork contractor and quizzing on how he used the phone. The Note 2 has been a great asset for the last 2 years with zero issues and great battery life. With the ability to take notes and make drawings on site you don't have to carry a pad and pencil. You can also take a pic and make notes on the pic or place in to your site drawing. The bigger scene makes it a little easier for old eyes to use. Go to http://mobilesyrup.com/ . It's a Canadian based site that should give you a reasonably good info though it's heavily biased to the Apple crowd as you will see when you read article titles, then read the article and finally the comments. Once you wade through all the BS it does help some make decisions. PM or call me if you need more info.

I'm predicting the i6 will have great initial sales and then flop.
Went to the apple store over the weekend to check it out. My i5 has taken a beating and needs replacement. I won't be buying the i6, either model. Too big, feels too cheap, all plastic, don't want any of the extra size at all.
I need a phone that also handles modern business demands. Not a phone that is a mini TV / entertainment center. Seems to me that the whole large phone size is just a fad being hyped by service providers to bump up monthly usage.
Would have preferred a souped up i5. Ideally a Motorola Startac with internet and email.

Very busy.
My mom passed away in August, and I was helping with the hospice so that took some time.

I currently have a Note 2 and will upgrade to the Note 4 which should be available within the next month. I got mine after talking to a follow woodwork contractor and quizzing on how he used the phone.

Also, it's probably much higher than $300/phone, when the telcos need to give Apple about $200 per phone as well (at least in the USA).

I may be of the minority, but I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my 6+!  I had the note 3 and did like the stylus a lot. I have had every iteration of the iPhone and went for the Samsung for screen size and to try Android. I'm well invested in the Apple ecosystem and it was tough to try and break away from that as I depend on all of my stuff to be in sync and just be there when I need it. In the end, I decided to go for the 6+. I use my phone for far more than just an entertainment device...I am frequently opening 20/20 drawings in PDF. It's ridiculously annoying to zoom in and out to see details on a tiny little screen like the iPhone 5. I do have an iPad but  I'm counting on the fact that the plus will basically combine the two devices and allow me to simplify my life and speed productivity a bit!  I also see the other side of the coin in regards to people wanting to keep a smaller screen for casual use and don't need to tote a big screen around.

I guess this doesn't count, but upgraded the wife's to a 5c from a 3gs for 1 penny.  The spent hours performing upgrades to computer and phones that she hadn't done.  That was priceless.

Like others have mentioned I like to use the compact version for everyday use and then an ipad for the larger screen for extended reading. I don't want to carry around a massive phone in my pocket (or even worse hooked on my waist), it's great to have more choice, not everyone uses the device the same way.

You are going to love it Bob!  This thing is biggie but better in my opinion. After 5 days of use I am really glad I got it. I got my wife the 4.7 and it is nice as well but for my needs, I am very happy with the plus.

The battery life is amazing!  I had it running for over two days (with fairly normal use) before it died. I think my razr was the last phone to do that... The flip version!
