Anyone hear of Carbon Method tool coating?

Someone in one of the FB groups i browse mentioned today that they usehttps://carbonmethod.com/carbon-coating/ for protecting cast iron tables on their tools.  Its expensive and i can't find any real world reviews but i watched the application video and seems easy enough.  Application is done 6-12 months intervals

Snakeoil or good?

Really? I avoid that stuff at all cost. I keep some at home, for household things, but not in the shop.
I worked in a bodyshop for many years (90s) and it was a definite no-no there too.

We use Johnson's paste wax on cast iron tables. I have even used Briwax in a pinch, it's a little expensive for that application, but worked out fine. I think the Johnson's was a bit more durable? I think it lasted longer, but that is hard to quantify.

Re paste wax….. won’t the wax transfer to the wood? I’ve found once wax gets into the wood pores, applying any finish is difficult.

it shouldn't.  you apply it, then buff it off.  Johnsons doesn't seem to effect wood

Yes, that stuff, as a vapor in the air, is a fisheye nightmare. You may never have a problem with hand-applied finishes, oils etc. but sprayed lacquer is a totally different matter.

Paste wax has never been an issue, when used on table surfaces, clamping cauls, etc.  If you got it on your parts directly, while "wet", it would be a problem though

I've used Silverglide with good results to protect steel tops, but one of the best I've found is Fluid Film, which is a lanolin based gel. Wipes on and lasts for ages, buff and there's no residue. Especially ideal for when machines aren't going to be used for a while.
