Anyone making a gift for the holiday season?

What thickness is the iPod stand and how far in from the edge did you start the groove to sit it into? I like the apple logo on it as well. Are they just stickers you applied?

I've made about 40 in oak veneered mdf (19mm) and a few in solid oak board (20mm).
The rebate is started 90mm from the back and stopped at 82mm.
After a bit of trial and error and rigorous user testing by my wife and daughter this was most stable.
The stickers are the ones that come with a new apple item.
All other stands have my logo sticker applied to them.

Made this clock for a good friend. I made one for myself and put my Dad's ashes in the back hidden from view but always with me   [smile]

I subscribe to the Design Milk and they recently featured this lamp[attachimg=#]

There is also lots of great articles on product design in the deconstruction column/blog.

I just finished the first of two peppermills.  Here is a picture of one finished, and one of the segmented blanks.  These are pretty fun to make.

In a bit of a change from the woodwork scene, I made a scale model of a WW1 Bristol fighter plane with and for my son. Really detailed stuff and quite tough on the eyes at 1/32 scale. The wingspan is about 12 inches or so. I chose to display it with the engine cowling off so you can see the engine. I still have the rigging to do but apart from that it's done.

It's a good way to pass some time with my young children, particularly when the weather's bad and we're stuck inside. I have almost completed a Lancaster bomber with my other son.

Painting all the tiny pieces was quite a challenge too, but I'm really happy with the finished plane. Several planes can still be seen in museums around the world, such as the RAF Museum in Hendon. It's good to make something and then go to a museum to see a real one.
