Anyone prefer the Classic Systainer?

t-loc are great but i prefer the classic. t-locs flex on the edges when lifting if you have afew systainer locked togeather.

Classic systainer all the way. Them Tea-lobs look more like sewing boxes to me. All feminine 'n stuff with all them rounded corners. Nice and square and manly, that's the way me likes 'em.  [tongue]

Alex,
And I keep the (manly) systainers with their (manly) tools in the (man)cave  [big grin]
Joke aside, I just feel the systainers more tough and asuring in use. And I can mix them any way I want. Time have shown the systainers to be quite tough. We'll have to let time tell for the t-loc's.
Did I mention, that I really like the sys 2 with the attic lid? Practical and neat. Does this come in the t-loc's? No.

Cheers,
Jacques  [wink]

See? Sewing box. You can put all your nice girly needles and thimbles right there in the attic.  [huh]

Hi Alex,
Oh my, I suppose I must go and get one for my wife then [big grin]. Haven't seen this model around here. Nor have I seen the new T15+3 with battery indicator and built in lamp.
Still, I prefer the systainers, even though the new handle feels more comfortable than the systainer one, to me at least

Cheers,
Jacques.

personally i think this is only a problem for someone with a boat load of classics. for someone with a small colection of classics it makes no sence not to progress over to the t loc. if you have 50 of them then 4 or 5 t locs is a PITA . i have 6 classics and 1 tloc so far. just ordered 6 more empty t locs. eventualy all of ye who hold out with the classics will end up with a few t locs thrown in to annoy you, you are better off buying new tools in t locs . the t locs are way handier , more comforable, easier open.

I have approximately three dozen of the classic systainers.  Some are a PIA to open and even I liked the T-loc version, but, I'm still not sold that a single locking point can deal with the weight when I stack and carry several, not to mention trusting it not to open and dump my valuable items out on the ground.  I'll let everyone else be the guinnea pigs and report back their findings over time.  Still, with the amount I have, it's probably not worth changing over.  If anyone wants to get rid of their classic systainers in the future, let me know.  I might be interested.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat with about 3 dozen of the classic systainers -- waaaaay too late in the game to convert.

I had 26 and they all sold in 14 days. I guess it depends on the condition, if they are well used keep them, its not worth it. If they are nice then its no problem selling them.

In 12 months if the T-locs are as good as I think they will be you may not be able to get much for the classics. I think it is time to sell them, now or never.  :)

Nick, your right, but I look at it this way.  Even if I decide to change them all over, and they're value seriously drops, I can get top dollar from Seth, the systainer king/guru/mad scientist.  [big grin]

Nope , I'm gonna time it just right. By'em all up cheap, corner the market. Then when all those T-Locs start to fail I will make a killing.  [smile]  Course if they don't fail I will have to build my next shop out of them  >:(

Actually I plan to swap out some things for T locs. In uses where they will make a real difference.

About the T-loc's.. I only have 1 old systainer, the rest of my stack is in T-loc's.. I hear a lot of comment's and worries about the so called
"flexing of the top". Well, the thing is.. When i take my TS 55, carvex and dts and a make a stack out of it.. They'r pretty darn heavy!!!! Also
because of the height, is just low enough to carry them around.. The top doesnt flex that much at all.. nothing the T-loc cant handle.. about 1mm each
corner.. and i'ts only the top one..  '

The thing is, do you really want to make your stack that much higher, or even more important, that mucht heavier..
i sertainly don't want to carry more thang 30 to 40 pounds up a stairway. It's just not that practical, or do-able..

I love the T-loc's.. they're awesome.. nice to hold, (smooth handle) easy to open, cool lookin' (big festool logo's) nice and grey!!
Only thing I miss, is a FOG conversion/modification for my T-loc's. I would really like a FOG blue T-loc latch with FOG printed on it..

already told it to peter, but he doesn't respond...  at all....

ciao

My personal preference is for Sortimos, specifically their L series.
I find that for site work they're much more convenient.
My only complaint is there's no equivalent to the Maxi Systainer for my Kango and steels, 9" grinder etc.

Alex funny posts [big grin]

I have over 50 classic's.I got my first 75th anniversary from Alex here on the fog so far since then i've be able to collect 18!!more of these beauties.
Classics all the way!

I can't imagine the new systainers being anything but vastly superior to the old style.  I hate the old style, mine are all still ridiculously difficult to open after 3+ years.  They're nice to organize stuff, but actually opening them is a pain in the . Don't get me wrong, I'm no wimp, but if I tear another of my very sturdy fingernails off trying to open one, I think I'll lose my cool and have to punish the systainer.

Surely there must a market for a Systainer "latch popper" (I'm thinking a regular small nail pry-bar would work, but might damage the latches. Perhaps one made out of abs plastic?

i solved the problem years ago by a simple trick:
