I called Festool last week to get a box to send my Kapex in for service.  The box came today but instead of the styrofoam inserts that go with the saw they include a 2'x3' piece of pink foam.  I'm going to go buy some more packing material tomorrow but am a bit worried about shipping the saw without the fitted styrofoam pieces.  Has anyone else sent their saw in for service?

I wouldnt worry about what I ship TO festool in for repair. I would be upset how they protect it FROM festool after service.

They will repair replace or otherwise repair anything damaged and it will come back like a new saw.

Weird. When I sent mine in last summer they sent me a box and the factory inserts.

It seemed odd to me too.  There's not much I can do with the pink foam and regardless of how I pack it I don't think anything will provide the protection/stability of the styrofoam inserts.

The pink foam is not correct and was sent in error. The correct packing material will be sent to you in its place overnight. Sorry for the mistake.

I have a whole room full of original Festool boxes and original packing just in case.

I did send my Kapex back once and it really came in handy.  So did the unpacking pictures I had taken.  I can never put the formed Styrofoam back the way it is suppose to go.

I'm grateful that I found that video last week, it was really helpful.

Well Shane, that was embarrassing.  [embarassed] [embarassed]     [laughing]

You guys(Festool) think of everything.

Thanks for the link.

Make sure you follow the instructions for packing very closely.  Otherwise your saw will be damaged.  I know from experience.
They fixed it...I'll leave the experience at that.
