I thought I'd add to this discussion as I haven't seen anyone post that has hands-on experience with the vacu-dogs. I ordered them as soon as the second batch became available and installed a couple of them this week. I purchased a cheap vacuum pump from Amazon and I'm frankly amazed at how useful they are.
They are ridiculously easy to install, take 30 seconds to move from one 20mm MFT hole to another, are made of quality materials and the hose connect / disconnect system is brilliant. They hold down very, very well with a 50 L/minute pump - you literally cannot break the wood free from the bench after 2 to 3 seconds of the pump turning on.
For $175 all in ($60 for vacu-dog and $115 for the Amazon pump), I'm really happy to have a great solution for my MFT without having to pay insane prices for a discontinued product.
Your mileage may vary, but this is a game changer for my MFT table.
