Are there any PRO5 shipping updates?

It seemed like there were semi regular updates about a month ago on the status of the shipments and the timeline on the PRO5 sanders. That seems to have stopped or I just have missed it.

For those of us that were told to expect delivery mid February and beyond is that still appearing to be realistic?

Thanks, Craig

I would suggest that you contact your dealer. I was originally told mine would come before Xmas, but they arrive about 2 weeks ago.

We've sent regular updates to our customers via email. Any significant changes communicated by Festool to us regarding ETAs will be shared with our customers in a timely manner.

If you ordered from The Tool Nut / Festool Products and would like a status update, shoot me an email and I'll be glad to help you out.

Craig,

Contacting your dealer will probably be the best solution.  Different dealers are getting product at different times and what is posted here might not be applicable to your situation.

Thanks for the input folks. I have talked with my dealer but I was hoping to get a general idea about the overall process and how it was progressing. I am still shocked at how badly they miscalculated what the demand would be for the sanders.

Well, if you allow a single "independent entrepreneur" to single handedly siphon off 80 pieces of "limited product", it certainly makes the inventory refresh a much more difficult task.  [jawdrop]

I agree 100%!

I also honestly believe that Festool was caught completely off guard by this. This promotion really ended up being the perfect storm for crushing their production and distribution network. As we know Festool is a tool manufacturer with a well deserved and established reputation for producing premium tools. They decide that they wanted to establish an increased penetration into their target market by using a promotional item that is discounted by over 50% from their closest current offering. So they create and release a limited edition tool that virtually everyone in their current and potential target market uses. This tool hits the market just prior to the holiday shopping frenzy. The news of this release hits social media as well as the message boards where it spreads at speeds that had never been seen for any type of tool. Once the details of the deal are made clear to the masses consumers quickly realized that this was indeed a brand new tool, with full warranty and all the other associated benefits of a new tool purchase. The important difference is that this is being sold for below what even standard consumer grade equivalents are being sold for and perhaps most importantly they are going for significantly less than what used Festool sanders routinely go for. Once this calculation became clear the re-sellers and those who speculate on secondary markets were quick to jump in. Once that happened there was no going back and the damage was done.

I think that Festools biggest mistake was their underestimation of the real value that PRO5 presented to consumers.

Just my $0.02!

I received mine last week. Superbly packaged by Bob. So it seems they are still coming through.

Yes, Festool is still shipping them out. We are waiting on our next shipment.

I finally got mine a few days ago along with the full assortment of Granat that I wanted for it. Still haven't even had time to run it yet, maybe this weekend once things calm down for me a bit with all the other tasks at hand.... [drooling]

... full assortment of Granat ...

An actual assortment or just boxes of what you need/want?
Full large boxes, 150 to 800 grit. Bought an Abrasive Systainer to house the discs, will store my boxes of remaining discs like usual.
I plan on only using the Pro 5 with finer sanding and between coats since it's a smaller orbit than my other sanders .
I haven't bought 10 packs of Festool Abrasives in years..... [eek]
Always full boxes.
