The first of two articles on building the Domino version of my rocker is published in the current issue (August/September, 07) of the British magazine Router & Power Woodworking. I believe, but am not certain, that it is also in the current issue of its American counterpart, American Router and Power Woodworking.

Rocker,
I always look forward to seeing your projects, and I'm honored to have you here.  Keep up the great work, and keep reporting back on your work.

If you have the time, please post some process details -- tell us more about the materials, the construction process, and finishing techniques.

Excellent idea Mathew. I to enjoy Rockers posts and work. I would love for him to share with all us FOG members who can not or dont get access to the mag (like me) all the details. Rock plaese post ;D  With lots of photos ;D ;D

Matthew,

Perhaps, so long as this forum does not have a rule against it, I can post this thread from the Aussie forum, which describes the process in some detail:http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?t=35118 .

Tezzer,

I think the British edition of the mag is available in Oz; or, if you want the full Monty, you could always buy my CD with the full-scale plans ;D

Congratulations on your publication, David. Your work is exceptional. Maybe mine will be too one day and I do wish we could get Jarrah to your quality down here in Vic.
Like Matthew and Tezzer, I would like to see details and pictures available to everyone on this forum, but that's just me.
I have added this thread so people can get an even better idea of Rocking chair construction.
One last thing, and please don't take offence, but maybe you could say in a post that you have published an article and then refer interested parties to your home page? :)

All the best,

Rob,

I am afraid I am confused by you post, but I cannot see why I would be offended by it. I have already referred above to the thread on the Aussie forum that describes in detail the construction of my rocker; that thread contains a number of photos illustrating the building of the rocker. The thread to which you refer in your post has nothing to do with my rocker; it describes an elegant rocker with a solid-wood seat built by another member of the Aussie forum. People who wish to build my dominoed rocker can either buy the August/September and October/November issues of American Router & Power Woodworking, or, if they want full-scale plans and a more detailed description of the construction method, they can buy my CD, details of which are given in a link on my blog (see below).

You may be able to get good jarrah from Britton Timbers, Dandenong (03-97682422); I bought the jarrah for my chair from their Brisbane yard.
