Hello Foggers. I have been asked to build a trestle or harvest table out of 200 year old red pine. Has anyone designed one and built it. Looking for ideas, photos or anything else you would like to share.
Thanks,
JC

Google, Pinterest and Houzz are your friends.

Get them to pick form several options, there are quite a few different interpretations.

there are also several options for plans.

JC I would suggest you ask whoever wants to the table to give you some input. Have them look for something they like. It takes the guess work out of the equation. For an old pine table Restoration Hardware is a good place to look for styles. They basically ship reclaimed pine from old buildings and make there tables in East Indian sweat shops. Most is crap construction and no or very poor finish but the styles are interesting and sell for a ridiculous price for what they are.

I have asked customers to visit Houzz and use THEIR time to let me know what they like and if not the whole thing, what parts.  With so many choices it becomes a guessing game and time that I would never recoup.

Was looking for a trestle table I'm sure I saw recently in Fine Woodworking, but came across this instead. I really like this type of style..

Thanks everyone for your responses. The client, and I, have spent a lot of time on Houzz, pinterest and google. There are so many different styles out there. The client is going to find 3 designs they like and get back to me to discuss design changes and cost.
Cheers,
JC

Here's a garden trestle table I built.

And, here's the dining room trestle table that it was modeled after. (Courtesy of an acquaintance) Scroll halfway down page five for detailed pictures of the construction.

Thanks for the info. Thanks for your link to the table you built. I did see a while back but was not able to find it. Great looking table. I really like the rustic look. Great job.
Thanks for the link to the document. This is what I was looking for and I think the client will like it. All I will need to do is make the table 10' long.
Once again thanks a bunch, the info will come in handy.
Cheers,
JC
