I want to modify my ATF55 to add a zero-clearance splinter guard on the right side. I am thinking of securing an aluminium extrusion using the two lower guard cover screws and affixing a piece of 1/4" polycarbonate to act as a zero-clearance splinter guard. Has anyone done anything similar? Any other ideas? Wish Festool would come out with a retrofit part along the lines available for their new plunge saw.

Hi,

Interesting idea.    I used to have the ATF55 but have upgraded to the TS55. If I still had the ATF I would try to come up with some ideas.  I  sold my ATF for about $300 and put that towards the TS55.  My feeling is that the TS55 is well worth upgrading to for the total combined improvements.

Sorry, I guess that really doesn't help you much.

Seth
