Nice review and your English is fine.  I have this setup for the 1400 but always felt it would be better with the lighter 1010.  I purchased a Lamello Cantex years ago so haven't used the Festool attachment in a very long time.  Actually, I forgot I had one until you posted your review.

Wow this is the first time I see that machine. I knew about lamello but I didn't know about the cantex. How much is it?

The Colonial Saw website indicates it is $1800 and it has gone up significantly since my purchase.  I looked at the Virutex, Adler, and the Lamello.  At the time, the Lamello and Adler were about the same price with the Virutex being about 2/3's the cost of the others.  The only one that reps would demo at the IWF was the Lamello and they also let me try it.  I don't understand how some vendors think the IWF is some type of display booth and don't want to get their machines dirty in a demo.

In my original post, I forgot to add that I also purchased the Chip Deflector 486242 to use on the 1010. Don't know if it will fit the 1400. It helps deflect the chips so that they are caught by the vacuum...less mess.

The chip deflector does not work with the 1400 router.

Is there a different chip deflector then for the 1400? None of these items are even listed in the current Festool 2015 catalog.

BTW, thanks for the video Brice. It was your video that allowed me to gather these extra parts up and fit them to the 1010...pretty slick. [thumbs up]

Paul Marcel showed these two pieces in his review of the OF 1400 video part 2. I believe he showed every  1400 accessory available at the time the videos were made. So if 1400 owners want to know more about accessories check out his review.

This is a link to the thread on the edging plate and accessories for the 1010 in case anyone missed it.

It shows the chip deflector and it works very well. Not perfect, but keeps the chips at bay. It is a very handy accessory to have. I also have used it to make sliding dovetail joints - you can make the male joint on each side of the board with the plate and dovetail bit.

BTW [member=34096]Mkholdings[/member] great video.

I routed the lipping on this table with the edging plate on my 1010. I was able to set the vertical depth precisely enough that the dried finish film thickness aligns with the top of the laminate. Horizontal adjustment of the base was just as accurate.

I ran into the local Festool rep yesterday and we were talking about the MFS template system being discontinued, when he brought up the fact that a lot of accessories for the OF 1010 were also being discontinued.  [eek]

486052 Angle Arm
486058 Edging Plate
486242 Chip Deflector
486534 Pattern Copier
plus some others that he didn't have part numbers on.

I'd like to suggest that the obsolete/discontinued tools and accessories be posted FIRST on the FOG so that the members could add or acquire the items easier, rather than finding out after-the-fact and then having to engage in the time consuming hunt.
Is this possible [member=57769]TylerC[/member] as a courtesy service to the FOG members?

I can look in to the possibility of announcing obsolete/discontinued products on the FOG shortly after we announce them to dealers. (Per our dealer agreements, they need to be notified first.)

I don't believe that that should be a problem.

Wow - that is really too bad. I highly recommend folks snag these attachments -- they are so useful and add lots to the capabilities of the routers. I might need to buy a spare as it is that useful of an accessory.

Why would they discontinue one of the most useful routing accessories out there, which turns the 1010 into a horizontal router. This can't be the reason, but a cynic might say it's to steer more of the market to the 700?  But there are limits to the thickness of the edging that the 700 can do (which can be extended slightly with the warranty voiding mod discussed on the half inch shy blog), so there will be a major gap in horizontal routing capacity of the Festool line once these accessories are discontinued.

I trimmed about 150 feet of edging today with the 1010 attachment and it's one of my most useful router attachments.

Ya Edward, the rep expressed some consternation as to why Festool would discontinue the MFS system in the US, let alone the 1010 set of accessories. He was not a happy camper...but he did remain loyal to the Festool oath of honor along with maintaining the secret handshake. [popcorn]

Since I've joined this board, I've advocated that there be a strong/significant mouthpiece from Festool on this website to answer the important issues that just get ignored or thrown over the fence. The one question that always goes unanswered is WHY.

Why.... it's a simple question...it really only needs a simple answer.

The FOG members are confused, the reps are confused and I suspect the dealers are confused, why is it so difficult to answer a straight forward question?

Why so much drama and intrigue? Is this a mini series destined for late night TV?

Here Festool, let me help you out, I won't charge for this service...try this, due to the increasing costs of hardgoods and raw materials, some of the accessories for the OF 1010 can no longer be viably & economically manufactured which goes against the grain of Festool philosophy that great tools should  be available to the masses at a reasonable price. Thus, because our manufacturing costs have skyrocketed lately due to the cost of raw material, we feel we can no longer manufacture these items at a reasonable price...............
