Attention OF 1400 Owners - a Tutorial

Hay guys, jointed up (and became aware of) the forum, after reading this post: I am that crazy guy taking the router apart - so thanks for the link!  ;D

I don't know how much a spare depth stop costs, but I am willing to wager it would be worth my time spend a few mins cleaning it up and tapping a new thread, than buying a new one.

Peace,
Bongo.

bongodrummer, welcome to the FOG. Dunno what your time is worth but that part costs €7.50 over here. Fairly cheap. I am also one of those people who like to take machines apart so I can understand where you're comming from. But personally, if I have to start cutting a new thread to get the part working, I would have simply replaced it. But each to his own. Maintaining tools can be great fun.

Hi Alex. Thanks for the welcome. 7.50 - now that's a lot cheaper than I would have expected  :o. Still, like you say, it's a nice feeling to repair a tool, and that drill/tap operation did literally only take a couple of minutes (although I had to leave rest it overnight for the JB to dry).

Round where I live, the difficulty is hunting down the spares for things like festool rather than the cost (though obviously that can be a problem too), everything has to be mail ordered, because there are no quality tool shops...

crazy taking a festool apart but it has caught my interest as my 1400 has a lil problem to say the least i have a cutter stuck in the collet and cannot remove either the collet or the bit please bear in mind that my router is out of guarantee
