Was using this  on some end grain Oak. Brand new. Seemed to struggle. Started on 6000rpm  then went up to 8000rpm.
I did  about four passes.

I had thought  it would  have  been  possible  to make  a single pass  with ease.
Any thoughts?

Not a router. A spindle moulder. (Shaper)
At first the rpm was  6000  then I went  to  8000rpm. Which is about the limit.
Along the grain  was  OK  and  achieved the cut  in one pass  without  breakout.

End grain was more problematic. Seemed a bit scary. As if using blunt insert  knives.
Feed rate was  slow.
Push out force from the  cutter seemed  too high.

I guess a cutter  with  side spurs  on the groover  like the felder  system would reduce the resistance.

Anyway this was  the result...

Working end grain always seems to be hard work even on kit like Wadkin EQ spindle moulders (got a soft spot for them beauties ;D )
The way I reduce the chatter or push away that I think you allude to is by using a sliding carriage/jig that allows the piece to be clamped down to it while the slide groove in the table or the sliding table prevents push away. This often means setting up with a sub table the same thickness as the sliding jig for the stile moldings (these are pretty common in w/shops anyway as a means of running small moldings over the large opening the cutter block rises through). This is also a safer method of work too.

Rob.
