I'm shopping for a parf guide system to be able to replace my MFT top on my  DIY table when need be.  I figure Black Friday week is the time to buy.  I see TSO has 10% off UJK stuff until Sunday, but Axminster has the Parf Mark I, which is cheaper, but not currently on sale.  Does anyone think they either place will do a 15% off for Black Friday?

I know its speculation unless someone has some inside info.  Thanks in advance.  This is the first year I've paid attention to either of these outlets.

I have no guess one way or the other about a sale price, but I would definitely spend the extra for the Mark 2 version. The 3mm drill bit goes through a bushing, rather than directly through the rulers themselves. There is potential for wear in the holes with the first version.

I agree with [member=58857]Crazyraceguy[/member] and recommend the Parf Guide MK2.  I have this version, and the MK2 was released for a reason.

+1. I had the Mk1, sold it and replaced it with Mk2 as soon as it was released. It's worth the difference.

Thanks for this feedback. I've been researching the mk I vs mk ii and never found a good reason for one over the other beyond it was just a new iteration.

I built my MFT using a borrowed mk I and was very happy with the experience.  I was thinking it might be enough, but seems not...

Oh, don't get me wrong, the original MK1 works fine. I did my entire 4' x 8' assembly table, a cutting table next to it, and several specialty jigs/fixtures with the one I have.
My point is that the potential for wearing the holes in the rulers does exist and the more you use it, he more chance you are taking.
I have had mine since before they came with the dust extraction fitting, which is obviously well before the MK2. That's what I would do if I ever had to replace it though. I'm not entirely sure why they even still sell the original?
